Our Process
From the first phone call to the final walkthrough — here is exactly what to expect.
One of the most common concerns customers express is not knowing what they are getting into before they book a service. This page is meant to answer that. We walk through every stage of an air duct cleaning job — from the first conversation to the moment we drive away — so you can decide if Canini Air Duct Cleaning is the right fit before you pick up the phone.
A typical residential air duct cleaning in a Columbus-area home takes two to four hours. Dryer vent cleaning is usually 30 to 60 minutes. Commercial jobs and full HVAC system cleanings vary based on system size and configuration.
First Contact
When you call or reach out through the contact form, you will get a straight answer — not a scripted sales call. Damien will ask a few questions about your home or business: square footage, number of vents, how long since the last cleaning (if ever), and whether there are any specific concerns like odors, allergy issues, or reduced airflow.
Based on that, he will give you a realistic sense of what the job involves and what it is likely to cost. If your situation does not clearly call for cleaning, he will tell you that too. There is no reason to sell a service someone does not need.
Scheduling
We work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm and weekends from 7:00 am to 9:30 pm. Most customers can get an appointment within a few days. We confirm the appointment the day before and call when we are on the way so there are no surprises about timing.
For commercial jobs or larger properties, we will discuss the schedule in more detail upfront to make sure the work can be completed without unnecessary disruption to your operations.
Arrival and Setup
The technician arrives in a marked vehicle and introduces themselves before entering. Before starting any work, they will walk through the home with you briefly to locate the air handler, identify all supply and return registers, and note any areas that require special attention.
We bring our own equipment and do not require access to your utilities beyond standard power outlets. Protective floor coverings are placed wherever equipment will be positioned or where the technician will be moving around. We treat your home with care from the moment we walk in.
The Cleaning
We connect a high-powered negative-pressure vacuum collection unit to your duct system through the air handler or a strategically selected access point. This creates suction throughout the ductwork so that when debris is dislodged, it gets pulled toward the collection unit rather than into the living space.
For each supply and return run, we use air whips, rotary brushes, or hand tools (depending on duct type and condition) to agitate and loosen debris from the duct walls. All registers and grilles are removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. Access holes required for the job are sealed with metal patches before we leave. Nothing is left open.
For HVAC system cleaning, the blower compartment, wheel, and any accessible coils or components are cleaned using appropriate tools and cleaners. We work methodically and do not rush.
Final Walkthrough
When the cleaning is complete, the technician will do a walkthrough with you to confirm the work is finished and that everything is back in its original condition. All furniture and belongings that were moved are returned to their places. Work areas are vacuumed or wiped if any dust or debris is present.
If anything was noticed during the job that is worth your attention — a damaged flex duct section, a disconnected duct run, a missing or torn filter — the technician will point it out and explain what was observed. We do not do additional work without your explicit approval, and we do not inflate problems to generate more business.
After the Job
You can expect cleaner air and improved airflow within the first few HVAC cycles after a cleaning. For dryer vent cleaning, you should notice the dryer performing more efficiently and the laundry room running cooler almost immediately.
If you have any questions after the job — about what was done, what was observed, or what the typical next service interval might be — you can call Damien directly. The conversation does not end when the technician drives away.
Equipment We Use
We use commercial-grade equipment appropriate for the type and condition of the duct system being cleaned. We do not use consumer-grade tools or improvise with equipment not designed for duct cleaning.
